To meet the obstacles in applying silica aerogel powder and bead in specialized coatings, we have developed paste type aerogel product by dispersing hydrophobic aerogel powder in water.


The following features makes it applicable in coatings.

The superior property of AEROGEL-W makes it an absolute choice for increasing the thermal insulation Performance and hydrophobic performance of insulation materials like glass fibers & mineral fibers.


It can be added as fillers in paints, protective coatings & insulating coatings to increase thermal insulating performance and hydrophobic performance. 


It also can be used as a main thermal insulating component in paints & coating systems. It can be used with cement and mortars for producing light weight and hydrophobic cement mortars composites.

Formulations


Coatings

  • Water based silica aerogel paste can be mixed directly with the binders/coatings by agitator or stirring.
  • Depending upon the solvent percentage and bonding strength of the coatings, water based silica aerogel paste can be used up to maximum 60% by weight.

Paints & Cement

  • Water based silica aerogel paste can be mixed directly with the binders/coatings by agitator or stirring.
  • Depending upon the solvent percentage and bonding strength of the coatings, water based silica aerogel paste can be used up to maximum 60% by weight.

Silica Aerogel Cement Composites

Silica Aerogel Cement Composites Applicable for hydrophobic and light weight cement and concretes.

Benefits of using water based silica aerogel pastewith cement or mortars:


  • Easy formulation with cement and mortars
  • No dust formation during mixing
  • Solution for the difficulty of mixing hydrophobic aerogel powder with cement and mortars due to strong hydrophobic property of silica aerogel
  • Retains hydrophobic property after curing
  • Light weight, lower sp. gravity, hydrophobic property and lower thermal conductivity compared to the only cement and mortar composites.

Formulation of water based silica aerogel and cement composites :


  • Add cement or mortars in silica aerogel paste by weight percentage
  • Mix it homogeneously for proper mixing of aerogel paste and cement or mortars
  • By weight percentage 5~20% of silica aerogel paste is recommended. Consider the amount of water present in the silica aerogel paste. It is 80% by weight.
